I've journeyed through the corporate and startup worlds for more than two decades, and along the way, I've witnessed profound transformations and shifts that seem more significant now than ever before.  I've been fortunate to be guided by mentors who bring diverse perspectives. For instance, one of my mentors is an industry expert in Talent Acquisition leadership, offering insights and wisdom specific to our field. Another mentor, however, imparts life experiences and wisdom that transcend professional boundaries, equipping me with invaluable life skills. Additionally, an unconventional mentor outside my industry keeps me attuned to global events and their impact on our work.

The influence of mentors extends beyond their wisdom. They've introduced me to invaluable connections, not just through traditional networking events but also via platforms like LinkedIn. LinkedIn serves as more than just a digital Rolodex; it's a dynamic reflection of my professional journey, with each connection representing a relationship built on shared goals and aspirations.

Mentorship offers a platform for transparent, constructive feedback. In my own career, I consistently seek feedback, a practice I extend to my direct reports. I pose two key questions: "What can I do to be a better leader?" "Are you happy here?" The feedback garnered isn't just informative; it's instrumental in my self-awareness and helps me focus on areas of improvement. My team knows where they stand with me, and during their performance reviews, there are no surprises.

The belief a mentor has in your potential can be a tremendous confidence booster. Knowing that someone with experience and wisdom believes in your abilities provides the motivation to tackle new challenges with passion and determination.
